WHAT TRAINING IS REQUIRED OF ALARM INSTALLERS AND ALARM SALESPERSONS?
(TEXAS)

The Texas Commission on Private Security rules provide for the requirement for all alarm installers (including technicians) and alarm sales persons to take a state approved Level 1 Alarm course. This course consists of 20 hours of training and testing.

Employers may hire an alarm installer and alarm salesperson according to the rules; however, these employees are required by law to obtain and pass the course within one year of their employment. No extensions are available under the statute. Do not confuse the Level 1 test that is on the state website with this course. Employers will be required to produce a certificate from an approved school to renew the employee's registration.
